Nicoll Black & Feig is not fixed in its approach to practicing law. Each case and matter is different and usually requires a unique strategy. A resourceful attorney is one who employs a strategy at the outset of a case with the purpose of meeting the clients’ goals and then aggressively pursues that strategy until the goals are met or until developments require that the strategy be altered.
The effective use of resources requires efficiency. Our philosophy and policy is to focus on the key issues of a case. Sometimes, this enables us to dispense with the case on summary judgment. Other times, it highlights the weaknesses in our opponent’s case and forces the other side to settle the case on terms that are favorable to our client. It involves an honest initial assessment of the likelihood and costs of success, and identification of the specific legal issues that the matter is likely to turn on. Finally, it involves the development and execution of a plan that is fully consistent with the client’s goals.
Proficiency also incorporates knowledge and experience. Our attorneys are experts in the areas that we practice in. We are familiar with the intricate details of highly specialized areas of law, such as maritime law and insurance coverage. Our knowledge and experience allows us to recognize issues as they arise and address those issues accordingly.
