Michael joined Nicoll
Black & Feig in June 2008. Prior to joining Nicoll Black &
Feig, he practiced for three years as an associate attorney
for Lee Smart. During law school, Michael also obtained his
Masters of International Business and took first place in
three moot court competitions, including the ATLA Regional
Student Trial Advocacy Competition in Phoenix, Arizona.
Prior to law school, Michael studied at the London School of
Economics and worked as an Overseas Research Associate for
the British House of Commons.
Michael focuses his practice on insurance matters and
general civil litigation. His insurance experience includes
advising clients on pre-litigation insurance coverage
matters as well as declaratory actions. Michael’s litigation
experience emphasizes all aspects of civil defense
litigation, including professional malpractice and premises
liability.
Michael is a member of the Washington State Bar Association
and serves as a member of its legislative committee.

District Court – Eastern District of Washington involving
allegations of bad faith where total damages sought exceeded
$10 million. |

County Superior Court involving allegations of bad faith
claims handling. |

Obtained defense verdict
at trial in case involving allegations of emotional distress
and conversion of personal property and the partial
application of Indian law. The defense verdict was affirmed
by Division I of the Court of Appeals. |

in jury trial involving allegations of premises liability.
After Michael’s closing argument, the jury returned a
defense verdict in 12 minutes. |

Obtained summary judgment
dismissal in case involving allegations of premises
liability arising from the use of shopping carts. The
dismissal was affirmed by Division I of the Court of
Appeals. |
